OPM and Eastern Market

Eastern Market's Grand Reopening 2009The District will reopen the historic Eastern Market at a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, June 26 followed by a community celebration on Saturday, June 27!  The two events will mark the completion of the market’s renovation and recovery from fire damage caused in April 2007.  Visit the Eastern Market Grand Reopening webpage for more information.

Since its inception in 1873, Eastern Market has served as the oldest continually operating market in the District of Columbia. A fire devastated the market on April 30, 2007, and Mayor Adrian Fenty has pledged to rebuild it.

View the information below to find out more:

Eastern Market is located on 7th Street between C Street and North Carolina Avenue. Visitors are encouraged to take Metro's Blue/Orange Line to the Eastern Market stop and walk 1.5 blocks north. Street parking is limited.
